If we do this right, we will not only empower ourselves but the beautiful community around us. I decided that my word of the year is “Empowered”. I decided to work on that and so I also made this episode for you.

In this episode, I will be giving you ways to feel more empowered in life. These steps will help you and I do empowerment right and get to where we want to be in our lives.

Hello, friends, and welcome to the Mindfully Recharged Podcast with your host Mariana Thomas, in today's episode, Ways to Feel More Empowered in Your Life, I am super excited about this episode, because, let me tell you something, not only I created this episode for you, but I created it for me, yes, I was being a little selfish. The reason why is because I had decided that my word for 2022 is ‘empowered' and I wanted to dig a little bit into this world and see how I am going to feel manifests in represent this word. So let's get to what does it mean to feel empowered in your life? There are many different ways of feeling empowered. For many, it means feeling strong and confident. Okay, these can be two different feelings that people can have when they feel empowered, or they can also feel capable of handling whatever comes their way. It means feeling that you can make a difference. That is another feeling and that difference can be small, or it can be a big, a big one. And a big difference in the world. Finally, and of course, as a final, it could be many more, it means being happy, listening to this one, with who you are, and what you have. And that one kind of made me think a little bit. So you can also feel empowered, right where you are. So if you're looking for ways to feel more empowered in your life, go ahead and stick around, because I have different ways that I'm going to give you to empower yourself.

When we feel empowered in life, we tend to be happier and more successful. At least, that's how I feel. We are also better, able to take on whatever challenges come our way because we had this force inside of us, they make us feel empowered. There are a number of things we can do to empower ourselves, right? What are those? You know. There are different things like setting goals, learning new things, or it can be just something as simple but for some people, maybe hard that working with others. Empowerment doesn't always come easy. Sometimes it takes a lot of work. You know, if I think about in the past, when I felt this stronger than I felt empowered, I felt like it took me a lot of work to get there and to feel that way but I don't truly believe that that should be the case. I think that when you truly dig into the ways and the feelings of empowerment, it makes the journey easier for us and for you. When we finally do achieve it, you know that feeling, the feeling is definitely worth it because it's not easy. Always remember, we are on a journey of life, there is no destination, we are just living day by day. And if you are being, you're definitely enjoying the journey. So don't give up if you're struggling to feel empowered. Okay, the reason I decided that this would, let me be a little bit vulnerable here, is that I think that back in my corporate job, I felt so strong. I feel empowered but I'm not sure that that was the right empowerment. I'm not sure that was the right reason that I was feeling empowered. So this time, I'm doing it a little bit differently. I am doing more, even though they're doing it, they're taking action it’s going to be a part of it but the been is to be a little stronger because that's the part that was missing for me when I thought I was in power. So one thing that I want to remind you is that if you're struggling with feeling empowered, keep working at it until you get there, but the thing is, to get there the right way. Remember, there's no one, right away, that is going to do these things right. So find what works best for you, and go from there and that's exactly what I'm doing because the ability to empower yourself is the first step towards empowerment, your communities, is to empower your clients or the people you work with. When people are given agency over their own affairs, they can begin to heal themselves and make positive changes in the world around them. I feel like that is one amazing thing about feeling empowered is that not only we are doing it for ourselves, but we are doing it for those around us. You know, I think about how I can empower my daughter and how I can empower those that are really close to me first, before I can empower others, but it needs to begin with me, it needs to begin with you. Okay, because it doesn't come easier. It doesn't come easier, but it's so worth it. So don't give up if you're struggling. Work on it. The ability to feel empowered is amazing when you get there and when we work on it, and we truly go through the journey, it's gonna be so rewarding. Well, this won't happen overnight. You know, we sometimes want things to happen quickly, it's something you can work towards on a daily basis. That is exactly what I'm planning to do myself. If empowerment is not your word, but you have thought about ways of feeling empowered. I want you to think about this, that is day-by-day work. It's like taking one step at a time and like my challenge when it comes to the one healthy habit a day is the same thing. We often feel powerless when we are cheated on by someone we love or if our career isn't going where we want it to go. You know when I resigned from my job and my many years of success and feeling empowered according to me. You know, it felt like the end even though it was my choice but there are many ways that you can empower yourself after being wronged by someone or not reaching your full potential, according to you, according to others, you know, depending on what is in your mindset at that moment.

So let's get into some things here. Empowerment is not one size fits all right? It's not going to fit for everyone. It's not always, not always easy to know what will empower you really like I just told you, it can be different feelings, or how you can do it. Everyone is different in every person responds differently to certain things. There are a number of things you can try. That may help. So here, I'm going to mention some ways to help with feeling empowered. Okay.

So let's go with number one. Okay, yeah, let me think about number one because I definitely want to give you the best. And my number one, remember that I'm doing this for myself. So bear with me, bear with me on this one. Okay, so the first one that comes to mind for me is to make some new goals. Yes, make some new goals and this one is why it took me a little bit of time to say is because sometimes we get stuck in the past. You know, I want to revive the things that you used to do. And guess what, we keep moving forward every single day with different things. So the idea is not to be stuck in the past. You know like sometimes we do when we have been successful in the past. And we want to revive those things and we want those feelings that we had before. I believe that setting new goals, setting achievable goals, is the way to make yourself feel like you are moving forward in life, even when all other aspects maybe not be in the right place. So it's staggering somewhere. So I want you to make sure your goals are realistic and within your reach. Otherwise, it's just set you you know, you just gonna set yourself up for disappointment. The other thing that I want to mention here, and this is something I definitely I'm working on is that you are working with someone you have a mentor who is going to help you to get there to reach your goals. And I am super excited with everything that I'm working on right now, it's really, really exciting at the moment. And I think that 2022 is going to be an amazing year. So no matter how you do it, setting goals is a great way to empower yourself and feel more in control of your life. The other thing that I want to mention is that empowering comes from within. When we feel empowered, it often has little to do with our external circumstances, and more to do with our internal state of mind. So the more we focus on ourselves, the better the chances that we have of empowering ourselves. Okay, so this is about you. And you have to be a little bit selfish when it comes to empowering yourself.

The next way is learning something new. Yeah, maybe you have been doing the same thing for a long time over and over and over, and you don't see any results or you don't see any changes or you don't feel empowered. So learn to do something new and maybe that comes with those goals that you have set right like that number one, it can be something new that you're learning and it's a goal for you to finish. Another way to feel empowered is by learning something new like just mentioned, including the process of learning it. So imagine that you are going to learn, I don't know how to do social media, because you want to become a social media marketer, but you have never done this. So not only that it's new, but you're learning the process. So learning as much as possible, about a range of soldiers, helps you feel like there's nothing you can do if you put your mind to it. You know, it's like learning a new language, I have to learn English when I came to the United States. I didn't know the language, and it was a process. So the process of learning is part of learning something new. Many people find that they're able to make more money when they have multiple skills under their belts. Okay, so imagine me, being a bilingual person, I have more opportunities, if I look for them, right? If I maybe tell someone you need someone to transcribe, translate, participate wherever, on the language that I speak, right? That is the beauty of that.

Now, one thing that I always believe is so important, and that I practice every single day, or let's say, I intentionally made sure that I practice this is to think positive thoughts. It's not always easy. Okay, in a world of negativity and a world where a lot of things are happening, it's very hard to stay positive, you got to be intentional with that in order to stay empowered. If negative thoughts start creeping into your mind, because it can happen, try replacing them with positive ones instead, you know, like, when you think about, like, "Who am I to be successful?, you can change that to "I am going to be successful rather than, "I'm never going to get this one. This one is the most powerful way to feel empowered when you change your thoughts. So you can stay in the positivity arena versus the negative one. That brings me to staying away from negative people. That is another way of feeling empowered. Because when you surround yourself with negativity, the only thing that's going to happen is that it's going to bring you down and you are going to become negative. Negative people will only bring others down with them. So you're not only going to bring yourself down, but you may bring some others down with you and you don't want to do that. So if you try to empower yourself while spending time with such individuals, I'm talking about the negative ones, it may not work out as you think it will happen. So it's best to avoid negativity and negative people and surround yourself with ones who are more optimistic, and those who are encouraging. Those who care about you.

The next one is, don't let fear hold you back. I'm not saying that don't feel fear. You can't avoid that feeling but don't allow fear to hold you back. So when we face challenges, you know, and you feel like creeping out from the challenge, sometimes you experience that you kind of become paralyzed because of the fear, and then it prevents you from achieving your goals and from moving forward, and especially from feeling empowered, but by facing your fears, head-on, don't run away, they often lose their power over you, because it's like fear is on the other side and you are over here, and you both are with your goals on, let's see who overpower the other. So you have to stay strong. Imagine the fear in the other side windows glows, and you are going to put on yours so you can knock it down. So when you are afraid, ask yourself, if you don't do it, what will happen? Wait for the answer and then go for it. Go for it, even when you're still feeling afraid because empowerment requires effort. It is impossible to empower yourself without making an effort. I'm talking to myself here. No one else can do the work for you but by setting goals and taking action towards them on a regular basis, day by day, as I mentioned in the beginning, you will be well on your way to achieving personal empowerment, which may ultimately lead to empowering others, and the beautiful community around you.

Believing in yourself is another way of feeling empowered. Believing in yourself, when you feel like there's no way you can ever achieve something. Your belief in yourself will definitely bring you up. This is not conducted to empowerment, you need to believe that it is within you and it's within your possibilities for you to accomplish something, even if you have little experience in that area right now. You need to go for it and believe in yourself. I remember when I was hired in my corporate job. I remember the boss from the corporate office told me, "Your program is the first one that is going to fail.¡±. He had no reason to say that but he did. And you know what? I was about to throw up. I was so scared and upset and I went to the bathroom and cried my eyes out. I didn't allow him to see me cry but I did. Then I came back and say, "No way. I know how I am not going to fail and for the next couple of years, my program was number one in the entire country. Do you know why? Because I've faced fear right in the face, right in the face and I punched it. I just went for it. I believed in myself, I believed that I was able to do what I needed to do to take it to the next level. So you have to believe not only in yourself but in your abilities to do something. So it has to be both. You need to believe that you have the necessary skills and abilities that are required for whatever it is you're trying to do and if you don't have it at that moment, get the skills to feel the ability, and do it. Without this belief, my friends, there are few things anyone can do. You have to believe. You have to believe so you can empower yourself. Stop doubting your own power and start believing instead. Next, take responsibility. Believing in yourself and your abilities isn't enough. You have to believe. Yes, you have to believe in your abilities. Yes, but you have to also be responsible. If you don't take some measurements or responsibility for achieving your goals, you might as well just give up right now because whether you are on your own or someone else is supporting you, it is you and it's on you to make your life where you want it to be, if you don't, who will?

When I came to this country, I spoke absolutely no English and I didn't have a job or a rich father here or anything like that, to help me. I needed to take responsibility for myself, believe in my abilities, believe in myself, and go do the things that I needed to do. So don't settle for less than what you want. That is another way of feeling empowered, don't settle. Sometimes we convince ourselves that anything other than what we have right now, will be a big improvement but that mindset can only take us so far. So if you find yourself settling for something less than what you really want, ask yourself why the fear of not having it is so great. It may be an opportunity to push your boundaries and go after something better. So what I'm telling you, my friends is that I'm bringing back that Mariana, that was super-empowered, at some point with maybe the wrong things, maybe some things that I really needed to modify but I was still empowered. That difference this time is that I'm more intentional, more aware and empowerment is going to be bigger and better. Neither the other one was bad. We are just improving. Now, because I don't settle for less. I don't want to. So let me remind you that the most important thing for a successful life is to be mindful and aware of the present moment, in this present moment for me, and the moment our awareness of the past in what empowerment was then and what empowerment means now, so I hope they you reflect on this, that you decide what is the word for the year for you. You don't have to choose empowerment and we can maybe do an episode of how to choose your word for the year. But whenever you choose remember that the most important thing for a successful life is to be mindful and aware of the present moment. So I want you to start living your best life in 2022.
