• Mariana Thomas • Season 1 • Episode 71

What if moving forward didn't require pushing yourself harder?

In this episode of the Mindfully Recharged Podcast, I explore what it means to keep moving forward without rushing -- and how growth can happen from a place of steadiness rather than pressure.

This conversation is about recognizing the difference between momentum and urgency, learning how to listen to your body instead of external timelines, and giving yourself permission to progress at a pace that feels supportive.

If you've been feeling pulled to do more, go faster, or keep up -- this episode offers a gentler, more sustainable way forward.

SPEAKER_00:

Hello, my friends, and welcome back to Mindfully Recharge Podcast. I'm really glad you're here. This is your host, Mariana Thomas. If you've been feeling this pull to move forward, to do something, to make progress, but at the same time, you're tired of rushing, pushing, or overriding yourself. This episode is for you. Because today I want to offer you a simple but powerful truth. You can move forward and still be gentle with yourself. Those two things are not opposites. Why rushing feels so normal? We've been conditioned to believe that movement has to be fast to be valid, that if we slow down, we're falling behind, losing momentum, missing opportunities. So even when our body asks for pause, our mind pushes urgency. But rushing doesn't come from clarity. It usually comes from fear, fear of being left behind, fear of disappointing others, fear of not doing enough. And living from that place is exhausting. Let's name an important distinction between momentum and pressure. Pressure feels tight, anxious, and heavy. It drains you. Momentum feels steady, intentional, and aligned. It supports you. Both move you forward. But only one is sustainable. If moving forward feels rushed, overwhelming, or frantic, that's not momentum. That's pressure. And pressure is not required for growth. Let's talk about what moving forward without rushing actually looks like. Moving forward without rushing might look like taking fewer steps but choosing them intentionally. Saying no to things that pull you out of alignment. Pausing before making decisions, letting clarity arrive instead of forcing it. Trusting that your pace is enough. It's not passive. It's conscious. And often it leads to better decisions, not slower ones. Now, let me give you a few ways to support and practice moving forward in a gently way. Before you say yes, ask yourself, does this expand me or drain me? Before you decide, pause and check in with your body, not just your mind. When you feel rushed, ask, what am I afraid will happen if I slow down? And remind yourself often, gentle does not mean weak. Gentle means regulated. As we close today, I want to leave you with this reminder. You don't need to stop your life to stay grounded. You don't need to rush to prove your worth. You can move forward and still be gentle with yourself. That kind of movement creates clarity, not burnout. Trust your pace. It knows the way. Thank you for being here with me today.
