The Ability of Mindfulness to Awaken your Capacity for Love
People often look forward to what is going to happen in the future. We set goals and do the things that will get us to achieve those dreams. On the other hand, we sometimes get stuck in the past. We do everything just not to be in that bad situation again. We are just so good at thinking about the past and the future.
What we often forget is the most important thing to focus on. A gift that is given to us every single waking day-- The present. We make so many judgments because of our past and we set so many expectations for our future that we forget to live in the present. We forget to be mindful. We forget to appreciate the little things of the moment.
However, today is not too late to bring that mindfulness back and awaken the deeper kind of love we’ve always had to give to ourselves and others.
In this episode, I discuss what mindfulness means, how it can awaken your capacity to love, and how it starts within yourselves.

Hello, everybody. Welcome back. In today's episode, as I mentioned, we are going to talk about the ability of mindfulness to awaken your capacity for love. I love this topic, and as you guys know, mindset and mindfulness are my jam. So mindfulness is very important, especially these days, there's a lot of going up in the world and we can easily get in touch, and lose our capacity for love. How can mindfulness awaken us back into our lives, back in our communities, back in our homes, right, and most importantly, back to ourselves?
Mariana Thomas 1:39
Mindfulness is the ability to awaken or can awaken your capacity for love, for real, but before we go into that, let's define where mindfulness is. What truly mindfulness is. Mindfulness is the quality of being present and aware of the moment. Can you do that so easily? Probably not, but it's about paying attention to what's happening around you, and inside of you without judging. Mindfulness can help us connect with our thoughts and feelings and understand them more clearly. So that is what mindfulness is, the ability to be present without judging, and the ability to connect with our thoughts and our feeling, so we can understand them more clearly. That is what mindfulness is.
Mariana Thomas 3:06
Mindfulness, as I mentioned, can awaken love, the ability to awaken love. When you are mindful, you are completely in the present moment. Once again, I'm going to repeat this over and over, because it has to sink in, it's about being in the present moment, and the most important thing to remember is that you can appreciate all these moments that make up for life.
Mariana Thomas 3:52
We are always thinking and restless. We are always going around wanting and wishing for things. We have this great ability to be either in the past or in the future, and one of the beautiful things about mindfulness is they bring us back to the now and this can help you to connect with others more deeply and to experience love more for me. Yes, and we all want to experience love fully.
Mariana Thomas 4:39
When you are mindful, you are also able to let go of judgments and expectations. I love this one. I always believe that when we attach ourselves to expectations and we attach ourselves to an outcome, that's when we suffer the most. So this can allow you to simply be with others, without needing anything from them. How hard is that for many of us to do, because we feel like we always need something or want something from other people,
Mariana Thomas 5:28
You may find that you are more open and accepting of others when you are mindful and that you can appreciate them for who they are, not who you want them to be, but for who they are. This can create a sense of being more intimate and a very powerful connection. So we connect with others more powerfully.
Mariana Thomas 6:09
And lastly, mindfulness can help you to connect with your own heart. Yes, and to experience a deep sense of love for yourself. When you are eligible to love yourself fully, you will be better able to love others in the same way.
Mariana Thomas 6:36
I'll tell you one thing last night. I was looking at myself in the mirror, doing my mirror world before going to bed and one of the things that I was practicing in my mindfulness moment was to tell myself how much I love myself. And yes, that can sound a little narcissistic but it's being able to love yourself fully for who you are and just the way you are. It's very important. This can create a ripple effect. Love and compassion can change the world. If everyone will do this for them, I truly believe that we will be avoiding so many things in the world as you know, a lot is going on right now.
Mariana Thomas 7:39
It starts with us. It starts with us loving ourselves by being more present, by being more in the now without judging every single thing.
Mariana Thomas 7:54
So let's just start practicing mindfulness and then start asking ourselves, "How can mindfulness help me to experience more love in my life?", and the answer is that when you are mindful, you can appreciate all of the small moments as I mentioned earlier. They can make you have your life and that is how we connect with others and how we experience love.
Mariana Thomas 8:32
You know one of the beautiful things about being mindful and not judging the things that are happening or the thoughts or the feelings is self-love, It's assessing what's happening right now and what is beautiful about that is the love and compassion that come into our hearts and our lives.
Mariana Thomas 9:02
So start practicing being mindful. When you are mindful, you are completely in the present moment. You're not living in the past. You're not living in the future. Living in the future is probably one of the hardest things that you can be doing. I'm not saying do not plan. That's not what I'm saying, but don't rush to get to the future just yet, when you haven't appreciated the right now, the way you have right at this moment and this can help you to connect deeply with yourself and with others.
Mariana Thomas 9:54
Mindfulness can do many things from the inside out. You know, to go within means not to go without, but when you don't go within, you can go without. That will be very sad for you and those who will benefit from your love.
Mariana Thomas 10:26
One of the things that mindfulness does is they will help you to open your heart and experience love by teaching you how to be present. One of the things that also mindfulness does is connect us more deeply with our partners. We can experience it more joyfully. We can connect better with our friends and our families and our co-workers, and maybe our kids that need us this day so much.
Mariana Thomas 11:15
So, friends, I want you to consider just being in the present moment and allow mindfulness to awaken you. Love inside of you. Notice that I pause, yes, because mindfulness can awaken your love. The reason why I paused is that I felt it. I felt the love from mindfulness, from being mindful. As I was doing that I had my eyes closed.
Mariana Thomas 11:56
So I hope that you practice this, I hope that you give it a try and if you want more, please, please send me a message. I want to keep this short and sweet just to give you a little bit of a taste of how mindfulness can awaken love within you and for you because when you are loved, love comes more and love comes to you because you receive who you are. You don't receive who you want.
Mariana Thomas 12:39
