Mariana Thomas 0:42
Welcome, everyone. In today's episode, I'm going to speak about the mindset of insecurity and self-judgment. I think if you are like me, you have self-judged yourself in the past or maybe you are doing that right at this moment? Yes, I was motivated to speak about this, because we all do this all the time, we self-judge ourselves because we have so much insecurity.
Mariana Thomas 1:22
So what is the mindset of insecurity and self-judgment? Insecurity and self-judgment can be an incredible crippling emotion and for many people, they are the underlying motivators for our worst behaviors and decisions. You know, when we are self-judging ourselves, sometimes we do not make any decisions because we in our minds are just self-judging the entire time and that paralyzes many of us.
Mariana Thomas 2:05
So what happens when we keep having this mindset of insecurity and self-judgment? Well, the thing is, it's going to prevent us from living up to our potential. It can keep us trapped in our negative cycles, in our doubts, and even our regret. And to overcome this harmful mindset, which is not a good thing for us, we need to understand them better. We need to understand what is happening when we feel insecure and judge ourselves. In this episode, I will explore the mindset of insecurity and self-judgment, what causes it, and how can we break free from it holding us, how, and why it's holding us back.
Mariana Thomas 3:13
It is very important to be aware and understand the mindset of insecurity and self-judgment because it can be very detrimental and it can lead us to negative thoughts and negative behaviors. Individuals struggle with insecurity and if you know someone, or if you are doing that, you know that you are judging yourself, you may feel like you are not good enough, or that there are not, enough things for you. You don't feel worthy of love, and you don't feel worthy of respect. This is a huge one when you don't feel worthy of respect from other people, you know, and you get in situations where you had these awesome relationships on your side and you don't feel the same from the other side. A relationship is a two-way street. So this can lead us to a lot of inner work that we need to do a lot of travel inside of us. And it can cause you and others to act in ways that are not authentic to you. It's not who you are. And that's why it's so important to learn to accept yourself for who you are with the flaws and all that comes with it.
Mariana Thomas 4:51
But the most important thing is to also challenge ourselves to get better right? We can assess ourselves but that doesn't mean that we had to stay right where we are. It's just about being aware of where you are and how can I improve from there. When you learn to love and assess yourself, you can then find your self-confidence and that is when growth starts to happen. This is going to allow you to start living a more authentic way, and more authentic life. One that is true to you and your values. I love speaking about values.
Mariana Thomas 5:40
It is also important to remember that everyone makes mistakes. We are not perfect, my friends. And that these mistakes do not define you as a person, but instead, they can be learning experiences that'll help you grow and become a better person. I know that for sure. I had been there many times where I self-judged myself and I just stayed in that place of self-judgment. But if I know for a fact that I'm not perfect, I can learn from that and I can move forward.
Mariana Thomas 6:27
Different factors can contribute to someone having a mindset of insecurity, and self-judgment. So let me give you an example. One is low self-esteem. You can see this pretty easily in others, but I heard that you can also see this in yourself. Self-esteem can be a major contributor, a major part, you know, of this story. We're being criticized or bullied, you know, you can bully yourself. And additionally, if someone or you struggle with insecurity for a long time, it can become a habit.
Mariana Thomas 7:25
Remember that something that we do over and over and over again comes in repetition, it's going to become a habit because we are constantly focused on the flaws and negative aspects of ourselves. So if you are doing this, my friends, I'm begging you to pay attention and to be aware. These sorts of things and these kinds of patterns can be incredibly destructive, and make it very difficult to feel good about ourselves. They can also lead to a lot of stress and a lot of anxiety as well as depression. You know, we sometimes feel a little bit down, we feel a little bit anxious and stressed out about it because we are judging ourselves. We had this mindset that something is wrong with us.
Mariana Thomas 8:34
So if you find yourself constantly worrying about what others think of you, or feeling that you are not good enough, you must seek help. It's important that you find assistance, and explore the roots and the causes of your insecurity, so you can find the help to change these thinking patterns and this mindset. You know, this is what coaches are there for. This is what I do.
Mariana Thomas 9:13
With time and effort, it is possible to overcome a mindset of insecurity and self-judgment and start living a more confident life. We all want to be there. We all want to be confident. We all want to make sure that we love ourselves first, that we think the world out of us, you know the same way that you think good in different things about other people in a positive way. I want you to think about giving the same love to yourself.
Mariana Thomas 9:57
Have you ever felt that you are not good enough? I want you to ask that question. Do you find yourself constantly worrying about what others think of you? So, if you are, you may be suffering from this. So ask yourself these questions regularly.
Mariana Thomas 10:21
Now, breaking free from this mindset of insecurity can be difficult, but it is possible. This is the beauty of this, that we can change our mindset. Requires, the first thing, recognizing when these negative thoughts and emotions are impacting your life, and taking steps to address them is one of the most important things we need to do. And one way to start breaking free is to become more mindful of your thoughts and emotions.
Mariana Thomas 11:10
When it comes to the mindset of insecurity and self-judgment, breaking and breaking free from that is mindfulness. Be mindful of your thoughts and your emotions. It's very important. Paying attention to when you start feeling insecure when you start feeling like you're judging yourself and acknowledging these thoughts without judging yourself while you are becoming aware is the path to go. It's the way that we have to look at this when we start breaking free from it, and this can be very challenging to do, but the practice, as it becomes a habit in repetition, it becomes easier and easier and easier. We have to do the work to get there.
Mariana Thomas 12:14
Another important step is to develop a more positive self-image. I love this one because one way that I used to work on my self-image is to look at myself in the mirror, and it doesn't matter how I look, I'm going to tell myself that I'm beautiful. Even if you're not at that moment. That's the best thing that is working in this world. That's one way of making myself more positive and having a more positive self-image.
Mariana Thomas 12:53
This doesn't mean that you have to think that you're perfect, but rather focus on your strengths, and positive qualities. So think about something that you do well or something that you excel in. Tell yourself how great you are on those things, on those qualities. Work on your strengths, and improve them every single day. So you feel like that is something you can tell yourself every single day because you are working on it. After all, you are the best at it. Not perfect, but you are amazing at it. And when you know your worth, it's easier to let go of the negative thoughts and the negative emotions. Always believe that you are worthy.
Mariana Thomas 13:48
And finally, it is important to practice self-compassion. This one is so good because I learned in a hard way to be compassionate towards myself. And it's not an easy thing to do. It's not, but it's a practice and a practice requires consistency. So stay consistent with the practice of self-compassion. Be gentle with yourself. When you make mistakes or you feel like you have setbacks or you stopped doing something, you got to start again. Don't be so hard on yourself. Remember that everyone goes through tough times, everyone and that you are not alone in this world. We all have things that we are working on, but by showing yourself compassion, you can start to heal those wounds of past insecurities and past judgment, or present ones, whatever the situation is.
Mariana Thomas 15:11
With time and effort, it is possible to break free from the negative impact of the mindset of insecurity and self-judgment. So, become more mindful, develop a positive self-image, and practice self-compassion. This way, you can start living a happier and more fulfilling life. These are the most important things of the whole thing when it comes to self-judgment and insecurity mindset.
Mariana Thomas 15:57
So it's becoming more mindful of our thoughts and our emotions, developing that positive self-image, and practicing self-compassion. And I've repeated them because I want you to think about this more than once. It's not easy work to do. You have to go within and want to be the best self that you can be, and live a fulfilling life so you don't judge yourself. So you can not be hard on yourself, because what we have is what we give. So if you are happier and more fulfilled, you're going to be amazing with others.
Mariana Thomas 16:51
And if you find yourself struggling with insecurity and self-judgment, there are many resources available, like I mentioned, and also make sure that you reach out to a coach that can help you with this. There are also books and articles available on this topic. And of course, I hope that this podcast was valuable to you, in some way.
