Hello, hello, hello, and welcome, everyone. This is your host, Mariana Thomas. I'm super excited to have you. I'm your host at the Mindfully Recharged podcast and super excited for this episode. It's short and sweet. You can tell that I'm a little horsey with my voice I have been under the weather. And let's talk about how to be true to yourself in this episode. So without further ado, let's get to it.

Intro Speaker  0:37
Welcome to Mindfully Recharged with Mariana Thomas. In this podcast, Mariana brings you mindful conversations and people that will develop and recharge you from the inside out so that you can increase productivity in your personal and professional life. This is Mindfully Recharged.

Mariana Thomas  0:58
Hello, my friends and welcome to the Mindfully Recharged podcast. Here is your host Mariana Thomas. Yes, yes, yes. Welcome to another episode. As you can tell, my little voice is not there today. Yes, I have been under the weather, my friends, but I wanted to show up. And I'm showing up as myself today. Today, let's talk about how to be your true self. How to be true to yourself, you know, and staying true to yourself is showing up just the way you are. We all know, we all know that feeling. You know, and thoughts are so important when it comes to being true to yourself. And when you feel like your mind is racing and your thoughts are going from one tree to the other, like the monkey tree and you can't focus on anything is very vital to be true to yourself at that moment and say, okay, something is going on right now. Or when you don't feel okay, like me the last few days that I have been feeling a little sick to recognize that you are not okay.

Mariana Thomas  2:37
And that is okay, my friends because we can't be on our toes or on our feet 100% of the time. And when we practice congruency, right, and not feeling well, it's showing up as that we behave in a very similar way. I think and feel the same way. That is being true to yourself. You know, sometimes when we encounter challenges in our lives, and we want to push through, which there's nothing wrong with that, you know, pushing through challenges is incredible because once you get to the finish line, you're gonna feel accomplished. And you're going to feel like, you grow and that is amazing. But sometimes a challenge may require you to slow down. A challenge may require you to just be still. And that is what I did the last few weeks of the last few days.

Mariana Thomas  4:00
You know, I wasn't feeling okay and I told myself, "Oh, I need to push through what I need to do this. And I need to show up in this way and that way." But then I realize, no, this is not doing any good for me or for anyone because I'm not really serving at my highest potential. Because I'm not trying to stay in my true self right now and my true self is the one that is going through something right at this moment. And that, my friends, is how you stay true to yourself. When you recognize that. That's the first day. We have to recognize the problem or the issue that's going on right now. Okay, I'm going to accept that and I'm going to stay still if that is what my body, my mind, my heart, my being is asking for it right now.

Mariana Thomas  5:13
And that's what I do friends. And now, that's not what I wanted to do. But that's what I did. You know, sometimes problems are going to arise. And when we see ourselves one way, and we show up in a different way, where we tell ourselves something, and we show up the opposite way and we tell ourselves, "Today, I am a kind person, I am compassionate, I am a great mother." But yet, we show up in a different way, we show up in the opposite way that is not congruent. But if at this moment, I don't feel okay and I don't want to be a great mother because I don't have the energy. It's okay to say, "you know what, I'm gonna call my daughter later. Not right now. I'm going to exercise tomorrow, not today, I'm going to show up to whatever event I have, when I feel better or I'm going, to tell the truth, because that is what I need to do right now" in whatever situation you are in.

Mariana Thomas  6:43
And that's staying true to yourself. It may not be what people are expecting from you. But it is where you are, right now. Remember, my friends, what people expect from you is sometimes completely different from where you are. And we try to please everybody, and we forget to be true to ourselves. And that needs to stop.

Mariana Thomas  7:23
Because that doesn't allow us to live our full potential, or to be happy or be in joy. So staying true to yourself is the first thing that we need to do. It's really, really important. So I'm going to give you two things that have helped me to really start discovering and continue to discover myself. So I can stay true to who I am.

Mariana Thomas  8:00
And the first one is the practice of Mindfulness. Mindfulness has been, for me, my best friend, one of my best friends, because I can practice it in a way where nobody is judging me. In a way where there is a space between words, there is a space between sounds, there is a space between feelings and emotions. There is a space between the air. That is mindfulness and allows me to stay aware of myself. And of course, there are many mindfulness practices, you know, and one of those is Silence. Meditation. You know, and that is one of the things that I did this week.

Mariana Thomas  9:04
And the second thing that has helped me is to identify my personality style, recognizing how do I behave in an arena, where people are expecting me to behave in a certain way. And I show up because that's the way people expect me to show up. And then how do I show up when I get stressed? When my stress levels are really high? Who am I at that moment?

Mariana Thomas  9:44
And then the third one is my true self, the way I see myself. That's the best one, that's the best part of it. The way I see myself and hopefully, that the way I see myself is the way other people see me. And sometimes, that's not the case. And that's what we need to grow tremendously, you know, we have to identify our blind spots, the things that we don't see. The things that other people see. And we are completely unaware that it's an opportunity for growth. That's an opportunity to become my true self, and to be my true self, but I had to do the work. I had to practice mindfulness, and I need to continue it. Discover - discovering my personality style.

Mariana Thomas  11:00
And as you guys know, I'm a DISC consultant, I do DISC with people. And I've done it for myself, my own self. I'm still learning about myself. So if you are one of those that wants to identify your personality style, you know, don't forget to go into the show notes and click on the link, find out how you can do this. So you can identify your different trades, strengths, where are your weaknesses, and your areas of growth.

Mariana Thomas  11:38
Because my friends, it's never, never too late. And we are always growing, we are always discovering ourselves and about ourselves. And the best way is to do it from the inside out. That's why mindfulness is part of what I do, and part of what I teach. And part of how I stayed true to who I am.

Mariana Thomas  12:12
Okay, friends, I hope that this serves you and helps you to how to be true to yourself. Go to the show notes, check on the link, if you want to know more about the DISC profile.
